RIVERLAND INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS RESULTS
Matt Benson was in blistering
form on Sunday, taking out the
Riverland Cycling Club’s 45km
handicap race at Loveday.
Benson was joined by Colby Jachmann
in the final group to start, but he quickly
disposed of his fellow rider.
Benson made his way to the front of
a group made up of Lee Rasheed, Lee
Stevens and Shane Pitman.
Gordon Lawton and newcomer Clayton
Bond were still out in front, but Benson
managed to pull away in the straight,
leaving Pitman to take second place.
Stevens finished in third spot, with
Rasheed and Glen O’Brien rounding out
the top five.

matches in the opening round.
Renmark RC Ones and Loxton RSL
had 15-0 wins over Barmera Hotel and
Barmera RSL Gold respectively.
Barmera Odd Bods defeated Loxton
Looney Toons 14-1, while Waikerie-
Ramco had the closest match of the
night, defeating Monash Wanderers 13-2.
Waikerie-Ramco has lost top players
Darren Parfitt to Odd Bods and Earl
Walters to Loxton RSL. However, it is
still expected to be a force, with Alan
McCauley and new player Craig Davis
joining its ranks.

Students seeing red
The Cockatoos soared to victory
at Loxton Primary School’s recent
sports day, recording a total of 318
The red team edged out the Emus
with 308 points, followed closely by the
Magpies in third with 304. Yellow team,
the Eagles, came in fourth with 297
The Fastest Boy Award went to Kobi
Thompson, while Olivia Vivian was
named Fastest Girl.
Principal Jan Slape praised the efforts
of staff, especially physical education
teacher Leigh Kruger, for organising the
“extremely successful” sports day.
Groundskeeper Terry Mowbray was
also thanked for his preparation of the
Nothing but Eyre
clears the bar in
the high jump.
Eyre clinched a close
victory at the Loxton
Lutheran Primary School’s
sport day last Friday, with
a six point win over Light.
The yellow team scored a total
of 190 points, followed closely
by the red team on 184. Grey,
the green team, scraped in third
with 154 points, while Sturt,
the blue team, came fourth with
