Saturday's Pink Games Day fundraiser
has been hailed a success, with over $2000
raised for breast cancer research.
The day saw a number of events take place at the
Loxton Horse Riding Club, with local woman Tanya
Fisher shaving her head at the event for the National
Breast Cancer Foundation.
Mrs Fisher said she "couldn't be happier" with the
support given by local businesses and members of
the Loxton Horse Riding Club.
"We had beautiful weather and great people to
spend it with," she said.
Saturday's auction raised over $800 alone, with a
range of items up for grabs.
"I would like to thank the town's businesses huge-
ly for their donations. Without those, we wouldn't
have raised the money we have," Mrs Fisher said.
About 12 riders took part in the event and Mrs
Fisher said it was just simply an "awesome day".
"It is an awesome little club we have," she said.
Mrs Fisher's daughter helped complete the shave,
with the ponytail to be given to Pantene Beautiful
Lengths, a program that turns donated hair into wigs
for cancer patients.

Council district will rise by $10 per dog
for the 2015-16 year, while rebates for
responsible pet owners are also set to
Council decided to increase dog registrations, with
general registrations to cost $60, while working dogs
and greyhounds will remain at $10 per dog.
In a report to council last month, it said consider-
ation was given to the animal management plan and
there was collaboration with neighbouring councils
and the Animal Welfare League to promote respon-
sible pet ownership.
Despite the increase in general registration fees,
pet owners with desexed and microchipped dogs will
receive greater rebates than in previous years.
Rebates for desexed dogs increased to 50 per cent,
while there will be a 20 per cent rebate for those
Late fees for registering dogs will also increase to
$15 in the next financial year.
This is the first time fees for dog registrations have
increased since 2010-11.
