Loxton RSL give it their all
Berri ended an era in style,
winning the Bowls Riverland
division one Saturday
pennant against first-time
finalists Loxton RSL.
Berri's 10-shot victory marked
their sixth consecutive win and
also marked the most consecutive

Berri's own record shared with
Loxton RSL and District
Bowling Club president Lindsay
Walter said the division one side
should be proud of their effort's
against Berri on Saturday.
"It is only our third year in divi-
sion one," he said.
"For a small club to achieve what
we have is in three years, I think it
is a tremendous effort."
Walter said Berri were simply
"too good" on the day.
"There were only about three
ends to go and we had fought
back... we were only two or three
shots behind," he said.
"We were just a bit unlucky to
drop a couple and that was it."
Despite Saturday's warm weath-
er, Walter said the match was well
"There was a reasonable crowd
there, with good representation
from the Loxton RSL," he said.
Berri skipper Graham Butt praised
Loxton RSL, saying they gave a
"good battle" on the day.
"It was very tense," he said.
"Last year we had a fairly easy
win, but this year we worked pretty
hard for it.
"We had a few shots to spare, but
not very many.
"They're a fairly young side,
particularly their skippers. They're
up-and-comers that's for sure."

The victory marked the final
season that Berri will play at its
current clubrooms and greens, with
the club moving to the new facility
at Glassey Park next season.
"It's our last year at the old clu-

finish on a high note," Butt said.
"When we move to the new
place hopefully we can continue it.
"We're very happy."
