Albrecht notches up third ton
Jake Albrecht brought up his third ton
of the season in Loxton's comfortable
147-run win over Berri in Riverland A
grade cricket on Saturday.
Albrecht's century saw him join illustrious
company as only the 15th player to reach 2000
runs for the Loxton Cricket Club -- quite an
accomplishment as he started his career with
After Loxton's Ryan Smith rattled through
Berri's batting line-up, taking 5/18, Albrecht
formed a 141-run opening stand with Josh
Zdanowicz, before the junior fell for 37.
The wicket of Zdanowicz sparked a collapse,
with Loxton losing 6/14 including Albrecht.
Ron Hooker snared 3/12 for the Reds.
Youngster Will Gutsche (26no) and skipper
Rhett Colls (18no) finished the day on a good
note for Loxton.
Waikerie-Ramco won Saturday's other A
grade match, accounting for Renmark
by 49 runs.
An unbeaten half century from Tim Bevan
(61no) helped Waikerie-Ramco post 6/165.
Chris Schutz scored 32 and Mark Shaw
scored 31 for the Warriors, who at one stage
were battling at 3/8. Stephen Taylor (3/20) and
Tristan Geehman (2/22) led the way with the
ball for Waikerie-Ramco.
Loxton's Brian Lynch amassed a score of 161
to help Loxton chase down Waikerie Gold's
big score of 270 in B grade on Saturday.

Loxton duo rule the court
Local volleyballers Hamish
Moore and Zachery Schubert
paired up for the 2014/15 SA

Cash boost for local clubs
Two local sporting clubs
will share in nearly $8000
towards new equipment,
uniforms and personnel
The LoxtonAmateur Swimming
Club and Loxton Amateur
Basketball Association received
$4000 and $3580 respectively as
part of the recently announced
State Government's Active Club
Both groups will use the funds
to purchase equipment and pro-
vide volunteer management and

ment for coaches and officials.

The Riverland Boxing Club
had a successful sweep of awards
at the annual Boxing South
Australia awards on Saturday.
The Riverland Boxing Club was
awarded the 2014 SA Boxing Club
of the Year in a back-to-back perfor-
mance, making it the fifth time the
local club has won the award.
The local club also won Country
Club of the Year -- which is the ninth
time they have won the honour in the
20 year history of the award.
Local Bradon Dunning was awarded
2014 SA Junior Boxer of the Year,
while Ryan Goodes was awarded 2014
SA Youth Boxer of the Year.
Jack Seabourne was awarded Most
Competitive 2014 Boxer and was a
finalist in the Youth Boxer of the Year
