New face in
Wishart Contractors has welcomed
qualified diesel mechanic John McFadden
to the service team.
With over 25 years experience as a diesel mechanic
in Adelaide, John specialises in engine and gearbox
rebuilding, along with full service, maintenance and
Wishart Contractors owner Max Wishart said
John's knowledge of diesel engines would be well
utilised in their expanding workshop.
"John will be a great addition to the team and
brings a wealth of knowledge with him," he said.
"He has a great understanding of a variety of
trucks, including American, European, Japanese
trucks, both light and heavy vehicles. John also has
experience in diagnostic evaluation scanning, general
servicing of all trucks, trailers and earthmoving
vehicles, along with light metal fabrication."
John will join fellow workshop team members
Peter Biddle and Rodney Strother.
Wishart Contractors has been serving the Riverland
and Mallee for over 30 years, while the team have
been offering vehicle servicing and maintenance for
about three years.
"We have 14 trucks of our own and employ full-
time mechanics to maintain the fleet in top condition,
ensuring downtime for repairs is kept to a minimum,"
Mr Wishart said.
The two bay maintenance workshop includes a
full length B-double service pit, enabling the team to
service trucks and trailers from around the Riverland
and Mallee. Other services include diagnostics, part
sourcing and light engineering.
Mr Wishart said the beauty of the business was it
was large enough to handle customers' requirements,
but small enough to understand and fulfil their needs.
"We pride ourselves on quality, reliable service,
using well maintained and modern equipment," he
said. "We are able to do this together with trained,
efficient staff dedicated to meeting customer
A proud history
The Wishart Contractors fleet can
be seen on the roads daily, travelling
throughout the Riverland, Mallee
and across Australia.
In the last 30 years, Wishart's has become
a major bulk freight carrier, meeting the
demand for dry land farming and viticulture.
From grain, to grapes, fertiliser, gypsum
or manure, Mr Wishart said they worked
around the clock to fulfil customer's haulage
"We are continuing to offer the quality
service that we are known for," he said.
"We offer a competitive, high quality
service in any bulk haulage."
Wishart's came to existence after Mr
Wishart began driving general freight trucks
interstate for his dad and subcontracting for
other large freight companies.
This led to Mr Wishart buying his first
truck trailer combination.
From there, he saw the need for a freight
carrier in the Riverland and the business
began to grow.
