Local cricket will fire up for
yet another season this Saturday,
with four teams looking to battle
it out in the A grade competition
and nine in the B grade.
Loxton has put forward both an A
grade and B grade side, while Loxton
North, Brown's Well and Wunkar will
compete in the B grade competition.
Riverland Turf Cricket Association
publicity officer James Patterson said it
was shaping up to be a strong, healthy
competition again this season and urged
locals to support the game.
"We really want people to get out and
watch, be aware and look out for our
scores in the paper," he said.
"We are encouraging people to get on
board and support their favourite side,
whether it be Loxton, Loxton North,
Brown's Well or Wunkar.
"The more people that come along,
Mr Patterson said the Loxton district
had a rich cricket history, with local
teams taking out both the A grade and
B grade competition premiership last
"Loxton is easily the strongest cricket
town as there are five teams that come
out of the Loxton district," he said.
The A grade competition will start off
with one-day matches before Christmas
and will play two-day matches in the

Mr Patterson -- who is a member of
Brown's Well's B grade team for 2014-
15 -- said he was looking forward to the
return of the cricket season.
"I just love cricket and love the social
atmosphere," he said.
"At Brown's Well, we have a really
strong family atmosphere.
"It is a place you can bring your
children and there is no real negative
influence in cricket."
Mr Patterson said for those interested
in playing this season, now was the
time to show interest.
"If you want to play cricket, best get
yourself to practice at your chosen club.
Now is certainly the time to come out
and have a hit," he added.
Waikerie-Ramco will take on Loxton
in the A and B grade competition in
Waikerie this Saturday, while Loxton

Brown's Well will play the Renmark
Royals at home and Wunkar will travel
to Berri for Saturday's match.
The local cricket season will begin this weekend, with five local teams taking
part in this year's competition. Wunkar's Todd Pontt (left), Loxton North's Tim
Arnold, Loxton's Brian Lynch and Brown's Well's Lachlan Patterson will take
to the pitch for the opening round on Saturday for the B grade competition.
