Bowling season up and away
Local teams made a
successful return to Riverland
Midweek Pennant Bowls
last Wednesday, with many
getting a win on the board.
In division one, Loxton set about
atoning for last season’s grand
final loss with a 22-shot win over
Loxton nearly made a clean
sweep of all rinks, but for Jocie
Cooper who skippered her side to a
one-shot win over Bernie Mattner.
Wins to Rae Reichstein and
Margaret Schutz ensured Loxton
claimed the victory.
Renmark RSL easily beat
Barmera by 21 shots to go
straight to the top of the ladder
after the opening round.
Renmark RSL won all three
rinks, with only Cathy Topperwein
challenged on the day.
She beat Sheila Lockwood by
Elaine Leedham and Maria Spano
did it easily for RSL, winning by
12 and seven respectively.
Reigning premier Berri beat
Waikerie by 11 shots in a close
Waikerie’s Jenny Strauss has a
three-shot win over Marg Cooper,
but Berri’s Kerry Treloar reversed
the result with a four-shot victory
against Di Boehm.
Jan Grosser’s 10-shot win over
Nancy Teasdale tipped the result in
Meanwhile, Renmark RSL also
sits atop the midweek triples
ladder on Wednesday after Moorook
forfeited its opening clash.
Loxton Red, Loxton Blue,
Loxton RSL and Loxton White,
Berri Blue and Berri Red were the
other winners, while Berri White
and Monash fought out a draw.

Officially under way
The Loxton District Bowling
Club held its 2014-15 season
Loxton Waikerie Council chief exec-
utive officer Peter Ackland officially
opened the season, while Lorraine
Lee delivered the jack and Graham
Millard bowled the first bowl.
Super veteran badges were present-
ed to Brian Dalzell, Kevin ‘Tubby’
Dansie and Leon Bradtke.
Loxton District Bowling Club mem-
bers then participated in a short game
of bowls, followed by afternoon tea.
